When hardwood is the best option

Hardwood flooring is easily one of the most sought after floor coverings today. Many homeowners desire it so much that if they don’t have space in their budget for the real thing, they opt for one of the many wood-look alternatives. But when it comes to looks, real hardwood flooring offers a timeless elegance that pairs with any decor, even through years of trend changes. The lifespan of a hardwood floor is such that it’s quite possible to be the last flooring you ever have installed in your home. These are just a few of the benefits you’ll find when researching your hardwood flooring options.

At Pat’s Carpet, we place customer satisfaction first, and you’ll recognize that dedication as soon as you walk through our showroom doors. Options in hardwood flooring

It’s very exciting when you choose to have hardwood floors installed in your home. After making the initial decision, there are still some options you have to decide on as well. One of the most important of those options is the type of wood you choose. The various types are ranked according to hardness, with some being very soft, some very hard - and everything in between. The more activity in your home, such as kids playing, pets being pets, and just everyday wear & tear, the harder the wood flooring you’ll need to choose. Oak is a great choice for most homes due to its durability, but there are a ton of other species to choose from offering different looks. Our staff will help you find the best look and fit for your home in your budget!

Choosing unfinished or prefinished hardwood flooring has a large bearing on how much say you’ll have in the color options available. For instance, prefinished wood offers a faster install time, but your stain choices will not be as great as unfinished flooring. Unfinished hardwood flooring takes more time to install, but gives you the widest option of available stain colors.

If choosing an unfinished floor, adding a finish to your flooring is a step of completion, but it goes further than stunning good looks. These can even hide the effect of wear and tear with finishes such as hand-scraped or distressed.
